All accreditations granted on the responsibility of the DAR until 31 December 2009 retain their validity, if the accredited bodies are kept under surveillance without any objections.
According to §13 para 1 of the AkkStelleG, the obligations for surveillance have been merged to the DAkkS.
 

Tasks associated with the follow-up support of the DAR system, are executed by the BAM, Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Section S.2. These include in particular:

• Maintenance of the DAR database "Accredited Bodies", as long as valid DAR accreditations exist;
• Providing and ensuring information contained on the DAR websites, until they will be fully accepted by the national accreditation body DAkkS;
• Ensuring information related to the DAR Rules, as long as the DAR accreditations granted on this basis are valid;
• Monitoring the proper use of the protected accreditation symbol (DAR Logo) and ensuring the trademark protection until at least 2017, i.e. as long as the BAM will be the owner of the mark;
• Contact partner for all issues related to the above listed tasks.

The DAR database registers only accreditations granted within the DAR system until 31 December 2009 and the datasets of which will be maintained and updated in the DAR Database until 31 December 2014 at the latest.
Accreditations granted by the national accreditation body DAkkS ( www.dakks.de) after 01 January 2010 are not included in the DAR Database of accredited bodies. These accreditations are registered in the DAkkS Database of accredited bodies: www.dakks.de/content/verzeichnisse-akkreditierter-stellen.
During the re-accreditation process, the "previous" DAR registrations are transferred to the DAkkS Database step by step.
To avoid dataloss when searching for accredited bodies, it is strongly recommended to search in both databases (DAR and DAkkS).
