MLA International IAF
The international association of accreditors of certification bodies IAF (International Accreditation Forum) operates a worldwide MLA for mutual recognition of accreditations for certifications of quality management systems, environmental management systems and products.

To support and facilitate the worldwide use of the MLAs, the Chairman of the IAF has drawn up an open Letter of Equivalence, which may be used as an information for the clients of the certification bodies, for the authorities and for further interested parties as well as to demonstrate the own recognition.

A first IAF MLA for quality management systems was signed in January 1998. EA joined this MLA as a regional group. The DAR as national accreditation body signed this worldwide MLA for Germany on behalf of the TGA.

MLA international ILAC
A first ILAC MLA for testing and calibration laboratories was signed to facilitate international trade. An international arrangement signed in Washington, DC, on 2 November 2000, will enhance the acceptance of technical data accompanying goods crossing national borders. The Arrangement, that involves numerous member bodies from various economies, means that goods tested in one country by a laboratory that was accredited under a signatory to the Arrangement, will be accepted by other signatories respectively. The Arrangement entered into force on 31 January 2001.
